I have a Magnum Delta Force that I use for work and I would like to run an Amp with it But my problem is I slip seat.What would be the best way to hook it up and also is this radio to much for a Shooting Star 225 Plus? On low power The radio will dead key 2 watts and swing about 25 watts.

Slip seating means you plug into either the cig plug or external power banana jacks. These usually can only provide 15a. The most you can run efficiently off of these sources would be the Delta and a KL203. |

Thanks Tech671,thats what I thought.I was thinking about hooking to the battery with large alligator clips but I dont know if it would work like that. Oh well.....thanks for the help. Maybe someone on this forum has the same problem and can tell me what they do! |

Rob,
You'd be amazed at what you could do with that Delta, a KL203, and a decent antenna.
I work part time on weekends slipseating sometimes for a little extra pocket change. I currently have a Cobra 25wx, D104, KL203, ext speaker, lighter plug, and a 12' coax and 4' Francis on a vice grip. The KL is double taped to the 25 and the speaker mounted on the 25. On Sunday mornings I talk to Ga, Ala and Fla with no problem on that setup so I'm sure you could do a little talking with a Delta and a KL203, just set your radio power to about 1.25-1.5w and let it fly. |

That sounds like a nice setup and maybe just what I need. The company I work for covers a seven state area, I go out make deliveries and then have to lay over due to being out of hours.Thats when I would be using the amp trying to talk some skip on Am and SSB.I have looked at the KL203 but always wondered if the Delta Force was to much for it.I have tried to use the Shooting Star on low power but it just does'nt work right.
Once again thanks for the help,the Kl203 is what I will try that should be plenty to work the air waves. |

Did you wire your Cobra and the KL203 into the same cig plug or put a two plug adapter on the vehicle? |

With our's that we run the KL300's on, we have the Radio and Amp wired together useing Quick Disconnect plugs that make it simple and easy to remove the Radio & Amp from the vehicle at the same time.
We use 1 roll of Self Gripping Velcro Strap to hold Amp's to Radio's 3/8 x 96" roll, or you can use Nylon wire tie's.

For my application I need to power both units through the cig lighter. At the risk of asking a stupid question, how do the Quick Disconnect Plugs then get used with the cig lighter.
I have never used them before. I want to keep this simple and fast, plug both into the cig lighter, mount the Wilson 1000 on the roof and go...if this is possible.
If not then just the radio but I took Tech 671's post as meaning that this could be done which would be sweet for me. |

Yes point, the two sets of wires are joined AFTER the radio's fuse, then to one cig plug. The fuse in the cig plug end is swapped with a 15a fuse. |

Check out our Review on the Hump Mount w/Speaker in the Subscriber Preview Section Under Hump Mount.
The Forummaster posted it today!
I included Pictures and this make a nice setup for Slip Seating. 
It can set on floor or on Passenger seat. Hold's your radio, Amp, and has a Great 8 ohm Speaker.

You're welcome Milk. I'm totally infatuated with those little KL203s. I keep a Cobra 19 DXIII that's tuned to a KL203 wired together to a 15a lighter plug and a K30 mag mount for road trips or rental cars...works like a charm! |

I ordered the KL200 and setup my TR396(also purchased from Coppers) for it and have it all wired to plug into the cig lighter and all I can say is"this is the best slip seat setup around" Its easy to get in and out of the truck and it's also an awsome talking setup.The KL200's small size is a plus and when I get long winded it does'nt get hot,it just keeps talking.My SWR is good and even when you are close to another driver it is clear as if you were running barefoot.It works so good that one of the guys I work with has bought one and uses it with a Cobra 29 and is loving it.
Anyways,thanks for the advice,it has been a total pleasure running this setup and when everyone on the yard hears it and asks me where I bought it I send them to Copper's
