Check all connections and make sure nothing is shorting or grounding where it shouldn't. If in doubt, undo it and re-attach. Then hook up a DC voltmeter and see what may be spiking from the battery. Do you have a fuse in-line on the power cord (positive side)? If not get one. |

well i turned the wattage down in my radio to 5 watts so its not that.guess i will have to get a dc meter then.not sure why its doing this. |

A friend of mine had that problem with his KLV. He wrapped the fuse in aluminum foil, put them back in and hasn't had a problem since. Go figure. |

Most of the forum members who own one of these run 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 watts dead key on am and no more than 15 watts peak on side band,at 5 watts dead key I'm not surprised, sure go ahead and by-pass the fuses, your's could be the one that fries. If it still blows fuses after lowering your d-k then look for solder splashes and bridges that may be shorting, also inspect very closely all resistors and caps for discoloration due to heat one could be shorted or open causing to much current to flow. |

Fuses blow from too much current draw, either a short or too much drive,it would take a rather large voltage spike to drive current high enough long enough to blow fuses, you would be seeing smoke from your other acsessories, also, trust me turn that d-k down to 1.5 watts, and recheck your swr,and you should be good to go. |

If copper sells them you won't find a better price unless you find someone to give them to you for free. |
