Bought an SBE Console V a while back, off EBay. (Please, I know it was a bad idea... Once in a while you do get a decent deal) Anyway, I have had a bad time finding mods and the radio has some minor problems: 1. Is there a clarifier mod for this set? 2. There is a rotary switch where the PA jack used to be with numerous connections, no positions seem to have any effect on the frequecy. Want to bypass this possibly botched channel mod (don't want to overwork the main board where many connections from the switch are soldered. Is there a loop mixer crystal mod possible with this rig? Which XTAL gets replaced? What frquency would be needed for additional XTALS? Would like 1 or 2 bands up, 1 down. 3. On existing 40 channels, lower channels have low (2 watt, no swing) power. Upper channels have 6 Watt power. It gradually rises through the band. Any one have power mods / modulation adjustments for this? I assume this may have been a botched attempt at broadbanding... I like these rigs but don't know why there is so little info out there. I get good reports from the rig, even as it is. Cosmetically it is really nice. Would love to get this classic back in shape. Arcangelny, Mike, Drop me an e-mail with your Home mailing address and I can mail you several Modifications Power/Channels for your SBE Console V radio. I will have to make copies of mods and directions and pictures and mail them to you. Lon Tech808 e-mailto:Tech808@copperelectronics.com |

I had a Console VI once, one of the best radios I ever owned except for all the cold-solder joints. |
