307,

I wanted to know what is the deal with the Cobra 146 GTL? I can't do anything to it. I have it deadkeying 26 watts on AM and 30+ on SSB, the ears are real good but I can't hook up echo, rodger beeps, talk back or a power mic.
My second question is, I want to turn the audio up on my TRC-440. I have been told to cut the D107 or the D108 wire. Which is it? wanted to know before I messed something up. Can't I just turn the two tunning pods to turn it up and if so what are there #'s?? what is the best way to hook up talkback on the TRC-440? what size resister do I need? thanks for the help.

Inklink,

Tune up for the TRC-440 is:

CUT: D107 OR D108 (means either one)
ADJUST: L102, L104, L106

You will need a 100 ohm resistor either 1/4 or 1/2

I hope this will help you a little.

I'm curious to know how you are getting a 26 watt "deadkey" from a (2sc1969) 18 watt final. Do you mean that you are "swinging" to 26 watts on AM or are you actually dead-keying 26 watts. The reason why I am asking is because a 26 watt AM dead-key carrier = zero AM modulation!!

I have one it has a 2sc2312c final in it,pretty close to the same;some one could have tricked it out with a matched pair,or one more powerful and detuned it for longevity.Sometimes people don't list all the mod info.and this get's them in trouble, there's many, many posts like that.

You're probably right BB. I have seen it myself before. But in this case I thought the SSB power was way high also for it being a single final radio. But, that's what I get for ASSuming again.

This radio has been tricked out. It has bigger finals and alot of other things done to it. Alot of what has been done to it I don't understand but my tech spent alot of time on it. I use it as one of my base radio's and it talks and receives better than my big base radio. Didn't mean to confuse ya'll. I just know what the tech told me. Like I said half the stuff he did to it I couldn't even start explaining. All I know is this radio is a keeper and I will never part with it. Just wish I could get talkback in it. lol

I could be wrong but if memory serves me correctly, the early Cobra 146 and Uniden PC-122 had the same board in them. A few weeks ago, I think someone had asked about a Talkback in a PC-122.

Go to the left of your screen and click on "Keyword" and then type in 146, or PC122, or if all else fails, just type in the word Talkback.

I hope this may help you. If not, then maybe someone else can.
