I just acquired a Superstar 4900B without a mic. I wired an Older Astatic T-UG9 with a six pin plug the following way:

Pin 1 White
2 Black
3 Red
4 No Connection
5 Blue & Shield
6 No Connection
Yellow Not Connected

When I key the mic, the radio trys to shut down as if there is a dead short somewhere and when released it begins it's "Hello" program again, just as if the radio has been turned off and then on again. IS THIS THE CORRECT WIRING? If so, what could the problem be? The radio receives very well with or without the mic plugged in.
Thanks for any information you Can supply.

Danmandmc,

You have it wired correct for the TUG-9.

Check to make sure none of the pins are shorted.

Also Pin #6 is +13.8 VDC if that might have shorted when wiring it you could have hurt the microprocessor.
