307, I spoke with you on July 31 and asked about my Uniden Grant XL that will not talk on AM, but will on sideband. You said that the AM power regulator was blow and it was a common problem. You gave me the part number of 2SC1419C as the problem and said if you were looking down in the radio from the front, that it would be in the rear on the left side. I took it to a tech in my area, not the best, but all we have, and he said he was not very up to date on Uniden Grant XL. I printed out your information and taped it to the top of the radio and he said, being I had the part number he would just replace that part to fix my problem. Later he called and said he was unable to locate the number in which you provided. It was his idea that a part number change had occured since my radio was built, and you probably looked in a new one. He said part numbers do change from time to time, but board numbers seldom do. So his advise was if you would be so kind as to provide the Q number which he said was stamped on the board beside every transistor it would be a big help. It was his opion that Q37 was what it might be because it was located in the area you said, and it was the only number that even got near what you provided, but the number on it was C3419 instead of 1419. He said your help in this matter would be appreciated and I agree most heartedly. He went on to say that if more people would bring him radios like this one, he's sure he would become more familar because in his opion it appeared to a awsome radio and I couldn't agree more. By the way I just recently purchared a PDC 700 power scanner to run on my sideband rig, and I would like to know what you thought about it. Copper had it at what I thought was a great deal! If you ever decide to come to Russell Springs and put in a shop look me up, I'll be glad you did.

the AM reg. is either bolted on the back right chassis, or is bolted to the back chassis in the middle with wires leading to the back right chassis, the part from my past repairs is a sd1135. the radio should be speaker side up, and facing you.. SSB will work with this reg. blown. but AM is dead.. |
