I have 3 Titan RSPY-201s they all warble on SSB. I have tried different batteries, run the thing directly off of a 30 amp lab power supply they still do it. Sounds just like a mobile that is running off a supply that can not supply the current requirements. These radios are the same as the Cherokee and the like. Handheld, AM/FM/SSB 10 Meter Radios. Are their service manuals available for these things ? Anyone know of a fix ? Thanks Andy KA3ODJ ashorn@epix.net |

Ashorn I am not trying to insult your intelligents, but just for the heck of it, try turning down the ALC to around 10-12 watts and see if the warble is still there. I'd be curious to know the results. You have 3 of them that do the same thing? Did you by any chance defeat the AMC in them? You can try a higher rated voltage regulator in them. That might cure the problem. And this might sound crazy to you but before you make any changes, try this. On SSB with the mic gain wide open, do a long auhhhhhh into the mic and at the same time slowly turn down the mic gain and see if you reach a point where your power actually starts to rise. If that happens, you definently have a poorly regulated power supply or a voltage regulator that is not able to keep up with your hopped-up radios. Keep me posted. I'd really like to know what you come up with. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

You know old kc0gxz might have something there,I backed up the regulator in my pc122 with another one when it did that and it solved the prob. And it's stock out-put,just had more stuff in it than the original was designed for. |

Bigbob Old?? Why you young Whipper-snapper!! Hey Bob. I was called that a few times in my youth by OLDER people and in my 55 years of life, I still don't know what a "whipper snapper" is. Hmmmmm. I wonder if this falls into the "Ask The Tech" catagory? Anyone? 73s Bob Jeff, kc0gxz. |
