Hi I have an Emperor 5010. On AM and FM the recieve is fine. On Side band however, the vioces are raspy. Clairifying dosen't help. Could someone please tell me what I should check out first? Is there a recieve amp that could be giving up? Why are AM & FM recieving OK? Thanks for any help!!!! Ice Pick |

That is a common problem with the 5010. There is no cure for it as of yet. It has to do with the "cheap" filters they use. I played with one for quite some time and managed to get it to sound fairly good playing with some capacitors in the LO (Local Oscillator) area. AM and FM use a different scheme thats why they sound good plus it is a wider (4.8K) filter. 307 |

Thanks 307...... I might just try that. A cap upgrade couln't hurt..... and may bring some improvement. Anythings worth a try. Many thanks, Icepick..... |
