I tried to put an expo kit in my 810e base and couldn get it to work. It wont key up at all. So I gave up and pulled the expo kit..I tried the radio and it worked fine after I pulled the kit. So I figured I would do the clarifier mod that is posted in the master mods volume 4 page 31. I did this mod and the radio does the same thing...It wont key up..So I unhooked the wire going to the constant 8v source and tried it again and it would key up.So I have came to the conclusion that
A. I dont know what Im doing or
B. There is something obout this mod that I am missing... I also believe this is why my expo kit wont work because it was doing the exact same thing. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Buck

check the trace where you are getting the 8 volts to see if it is 8 volts with the mic keyed.some 8 volt traces go dead when you key the mic.if so find one that is 8 volts with mic keyed or unkeyed.Sonoma

Yea...I checked it out and it is a constant 7.53v....I would think that would be close enough but maybe not. I will try to find something a little closer to 8 volts.

Well I found the problem....lets just say Im an idiot.....:) Anyway I re-installed the expo kit and only half of it works...the high side. Oh well thats the only side I ever use. However I need to adjust the VFO for coverage....Anyone know where it is located at??? I dont have a schematic for this thing.
Thanks
Buck
