Is the Boomer 400 class AB-1, or Class C? What is the rms, and peak, on the high setting? And if I go from 10 guage to 4 guage wire, will that increase my output?? I was looking through the "Crutchfield" mail order stereo catalog, and I came across 2 Farad caps for stereo amps. One was rated at 1/2 farad up to 500 watts, the other at 1-farad up to 1000 watts. Can I use these for linear amps? And if so, where and how do I electrically hook up these caps to my radio, amp, and battery? I've been hearing good and bad things about caps taking the place of batteries, and I want to try it out for myself. |

Class C. If your reference is the run of cable to the battery, yes you would see a power increase upgrading to 4ga *if* your 10ga run now exceeds 8ft. Caps as such can help slightly with voltage drop, not usually necessary on smaller amps with draw under 50a. What they are good for is filtering RF from riding the DC lines. Big ole filters. |
