The same area (for each number on the channel display)is missing when displayed. It is getting uncomfortable to determine the channel in use. I am looking at TR22 (LED Drive) or D401 (Channel display TLR124) as the culprit(s). There are some CAPS and resistors in the circuit. Help is needed to ID the real cause of problem. I am hesitant on just(test by replacing parts) hoping that will cure the channel display problem. The radio is working well in all aspects of Rx and Tx. Thanks.... |

have you tried cleaning the channel selector?
I have had several radios the same or similar of what you are describing, and a shot of "tuner cleaner" took care of them.
It might be worth a try. |

The best way to clean a channel selector is to pull off the knob and chuck the shaft it in a drill. Crank it for about 20 seconds at full throttle. Cleans them every time...

That two-digit common-anode display has been made by dozens of vendors since Toshiba first started selling them to the radio factories 25 years ago. Digi-Key (www.digikey.com) sells the LITON brand in red (stock # 160-1148-ND) and green (160-1149-ND). Buying just one won't save you much. In quantities of 10 or more, you will save a bundle. Costs about the same to ship ten of each color as to ship just one. In hundreds they get REALLY reasonable.
