I bought 2 vr9000's from copper for some freinds. Did the channel mod on both and being in two different big trucks they both have got the most hurrendous squeal when they talk on them. The only way it would stop is to put on a good mic.(astatic 636). Why is this happening with the stock mic? is there something else maybe to do without cutting the talkback off? I got a vr9000 about 2 yrs ago and no squeal at all with the stock mic. Did something change since then?
Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Where is the radio grounded? It must NOT be on the frame. It should be direct to the battery "-". Also the common squeal with an "amp" in line is the same senario...

307,
the truck has a hot and ground post that comes out of the dash and that's usually where we ground everything. It's hard to find a "really good ground" in these trucks. I would think that you would need at least a 20 foot ground to reach the battery, wouldn't that be to long?

Thanks

Spydrman,

On our Kenworth I ran 10 gauge for Pos & Neg straight down thru floor under pedal's direct to Batteries.

The Post's on dash are barely enough for a 4 watt radio and pull the same power from everything in the dash and use a common ground.

Also on Grounding the Antenna Run a Piece of 18 Gauge wire from the Bottom of Antenna Mount to Door Mount Bolt.

Hope this Helps.
