Thunderbolt, You may want to install a low pass filter inline in your coax to reduce TVI. You may also want to buy your neighbors a high pass filter that they can install inline in the coax for their antenna. Check the location of your CB coax versus the location of their coax coming from their TV antenna or satellite dish. Using better quality coax (RG-213 or better), will help elimate interference as well, Chances are, being so close to them you will never eliminate all the interference, especially if they are using a TV antenna mounted to the roof close to your antron. Talk with your neighbors and see what times they watch TV, you may want to adjust your CBing away from those times. Back down the modulation, don't run unnecessary amounts of power. Ground your radio or if you can't get a good outdoor ground at least attach a piece of 16 guage wire about 9 ft long to the back of the radio. That may reduce the TVI somewhat. You might try using a good tuner too. If all that fails raise the antenna higher and back the radio down. |

Thunderbolt, If you are running a "clipped" or modified modulator, return it to orginal condition to minimize the possibility of TVI and other forms of interference. Also, as noted above, the better the grounding the less possibility of causing problems. Low pass and high pass filters on the appropriate equipment can help a lot. A few ferrite filters on power and phone lines may make a difference. If all else fails, Tech181 is right; shift your operating times ... Good Luck! Bob |

I went looking to see if i could help but the only standard i could find for consumer product interferance as far as a fcc requirement for your neighbors set is 97-259 and it realy does not say to much just gives the fcc some power to set standards. Everyone is givin you good information on how to handle this. One last point DO NOT modify your neighbors sets if something goes wrong you know they will blame you. |

If his house has cheap tv coax and cheap cat3 cable in it your chances on fixing the problem are really slim. like 1 out of 100. |

Warchild, I am partial to RG-213. If you have a shorter coax run and are planning on running just the radio RG-8 is fine as well. Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |

on a second floor balcony how would i ground the antron? to where on the snt and to what nearby? a wire to the earth itself is not feasable do to idiot teenagers and careless "mower" men. so has to remain out of the reach of imbiciles...any thoughts?
