First unplug the mic and check to see if still is keyed up. Next does it have a roger beep? If so something might be loose inside. Next want to double your money ? LOL. Good radio's hang in there. |

It's the first Cobra 2000 I remember doing this trick. It's not one of those "they all do that" kind of problem. I'm with Crafter. Sounds like a botched Roger-Beep install to me. That will involve putting wires back "where they used to be". That will call for someone who knows where they used to go. If you can borrow another radio and use it as a guide, that might work. Don't know of any books or web pages that describe which color wire to put back where on the mike socket. 73 |

The mic plug is a circuit board also turn it upside down pull the cover and unscrew the mic plug itself and check it out good. Beyond this its going to take some work, It is probally something simple I bet but needs a good tech to scan it and check it out. So give it a good check over. |

1) Check pin 5 on the mic plug for 8 volts in RX mode. If not: Replace TR-35 , R-164 and/or D43 and/or IC-C4 If 8 volts on Pin 5 then: Replace C-404 if it is shorted.(on mic plug) If it is NOT shorted: Replace the CB/PA Switch If all else fails , email me and I will get you to send it to me if you desire... 307 |
