I'm close to deciding on a replacement verticle. I have never used an antenna with a groundplane due to limited space and height.I have enough clearance at the house peak for the GPK.
I like the A99 and the GPK it would work in my existing location. But I noticed the ring had a locking knob/bolt on it. And it seemed to be mounted either to the antenna base or the insulator just below the swr adjusting ring.
Is the GPK connected to ground via the base or is it isolated (float)?

GR, I think you will find that the hub slides up on the base of the A99 and you have to push it all the way up to the top, near the tuning rings, so you can mount the base to the mast and still clear. The GP kit is grounded at the base of the A99.

Marconi thanks for the come back. I think I'll get the kit. The diameter of the radials is small. and will easily clear my roof. I never had a real good Swr with my old SuperBeacon. I'll bet they give me a better SWR.

swrs will be little to nothing. i have an imax 2000 and the swrs are 1.1 to 1 and also very flat. a couple freinds of mine have a99's with gpk with the same results. super antenna for the price.
