Hello Copper Techs...

Cobra29LTD Rx's with mic connected and disconnected. When disconnected audio drops off a little. Very mean speaker squeal on Tx. When Ext. Jack pressure contact is depressed on Tx...radio will Tx OK. Audio will return when pressure contact is released. Audio on Tx sounds good to locals. Rx audio is also good. 3 mics were used with same results. These mics worked ok on another 29LTD. Please advise...Toolman29

the return line of your speaker(-) is staying gnded at all times. so someone has either put a killer talkback into it, or the there is a short on the return line of the speaker somewhere. by pressing the pressure tab of the jack you are breaking 1 side of the audio(+ side) which is then removing the 'talkback' and allowing proper modulation to occur.

Ss8541...
Thanks for technical advice. I found continuity between audio + sides of PA and CB jacks. Discovered that a resistor had been installed across both audio +'s of PA and CB jacks. Disconnected one end of resistor and both Rx and Tx are back to normal. None of the problems that I explained earlier are present. Working great!!!! What would be the logic (function)in having a resistor installed like that??? I appreciate your expertise.... best wishes Toolman29
