Well I have to say went threw most of the site as I could and saw that alot of people like there radio limiters intact, Read a part where it said that you cant tell the differance if it is cut or not except on a scope, If I get a tech to answer this and give a good explanation of the limiter being clipped and not being clipped. what is happening?Would be much appreciated and think I am not gonna cut the limiter on this one it just looks to sweet and mostly everybody sounds like they dont want to cut them sounds like thats the best thing to do. my question is how to set the high and low dead key{without blowing it up} while the 2-2290"s are still active? Is it possible to disable the 2-2290"s temporarily so I can set the dead key after turning up the am modulation? and will the 2-2290"s still work after the channel mod is done? hope to see alot of info on this radio cause want this one to last a long time. another question while I am at it who is the bigger manufacturer ranger or galaxy? heard that uniden is the main manufacturer of the boards that ranger and galaxy use? is this true? 73's see ya |

Well, I am no tech, but I can tell you that if you clip the limiters from a radio, and then use that radio with an amp, you will splatter all over the band, not to mention your variable power will be useless.
I am of the opinion that the radios have a limiter installed for a reason, if you want to be loud get a megaphone. If you want clean clear audio, with no bleedover and you want your radio to last, leave the limiters intact.
Just one mans opinion. |

You can almost always tell the ones who have clipped radios as they are very loud, generally distorted with the echo way open, and splattering 3 or 4 channels on either side of the one they are talking on.
I have been working on radios well over 25 years and the one thing I will NOT do when someone brings it in is clip it.
I have never heard or seen any good reason to do so.
With most radio's that are out there now most people will run a power mic on them anyway.
Good clean Unclipped Modulation at 85 to 95% will talk to anyone anywhere in the world and you will find there is "NO REASON" to clip it or remove the Mod Limiter to make you sound good and clear & clean.
I have done many mods for Forum members here on the new radios they have bought from COPPER.
None have ever been Clipped and none have ever had the Mod Limiter removed. As yet I have had no complaints and everone has been pleased when they get there radios back.
Just my thought's!

tech 808, I have only been into c.b since 96-97 roughly. I first got on it and all I heard was the more power the better, as of yesterday that is all I knew peak it till it bleeds all 40 channels. well after reading this forum and my experiance today, I personally will not cut or remove any more limiters like I have done in the past. I just received a dx48t and absolutly fell in love with it. me and another c.b.er went threw radio checks to see how I sounded, if he didnt help me I would of never known til it was to late, because I was trying to get the most out of it but seems that the variable vr16 was fine right where it was. I am not a tech but learned a few things how to adjust variable pots and such..So I removed the limiter. Guess what it sounded like it was clipping and kinda like side band but I sounded really bad so decided to put the limiter back in and with a few adjustments I got the radio to sound good again guess these radios are built for keeping the limiters in them. thats ok cause I have received so many good compliments on how it was so clean the best I ever sounded to them. so another lesson learned not to mess with the limiters.seems it was made for it to be in permanently. any way thought I would share that. see ya. |

I wrecked the am side on my eagle2000 messin with the guts peakin and tweakin,the seal is still on my dx2517 after I got it from 307(copper),and,if you'll pardon the pun,it's LOUD and PROUD and it's gonna stay sealed.MY GAWD IT'S LOWD!! and crystal clear. |

Hope fully I will get a tech to answer my request of getting my dx48t peaked and tuned in the modifications forum. cause this radio is so sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet! frequency"s never shift, but want it to be the best performing radio it can be talking and receiving signals.I didnt buy it from copper this time but I do shop with them time to time.I found a price really good so I had to get it. anyway sonner or later it will get peaked and tuned with some help from a technician here from copper hopefully soon cause I really dont know who else to trust with my radio. that it for now see ya |
