Received RCI-2950 other day and hooked to meter. It was dead key about 4 watts and swinging about 25 watts by itself.
When I hooked it to the KLV-350 it would only key about 150 watts on low and had almost no swing, 4 watts input. All measurements were taken on AM side. Seems like it should have more swing. Have I done something wrong or is it that this radio is basic SSB?

That's way too high of a deadkey for that amp...Try to find a carrier level from the radio that will give you about a 60-80 watt deadkey out of the amp-probably 1 to 1-1/2 watts from the radio.

I'll have to check the low power on the radio to see if it will go that low. May need to return it to Copper and lower the low end power. Think (3) watts is as low as it goes. I'll check it though. Instructions say from (1)-(4) watts.
Thanks

Highlander,
Thanks for info. Went inside and set low end down ti 1/2 watt. Works real well. Turn it to 45 watts dead key out the box and swinging 150 watts. Great, thanks again,

you don't have to send it to copper. it is a very easy step to reduce the carrier(if you have a wattmeter). is this a 2950dx or 2950??

Yosimity, good job! Make room in the shack for all the flowers! You will keep that amp happy running it like that.

Ss8541,
I set the RF power myself. What I was worried about was the warranty. Just got it. Hope nothing goes wrong, had to take the warranty tape off. It's a 2950dx.
