how would i power a texas star 1200 or 1600 for "base use" could i use two astron rs70a hooked together 56amp cont. 62 amp surge help me please

Yes you can..Astron has a way of connecting power supplies in parallel by connecting the bananna jacks on the back together with a cable. This give you twice the current rating and equalizes both power supplies together. This is a common practice...

Just curious but does anyone know how many amps are needed to power the texas star 1600 I'm interested in putting one in my mobile a local told me I would probably have to run a second battery and at least a 160 amp alternater.

If you want the 1600 to do all it is capable of the local is close to correct.I recently saw a 200 amp alternator for GM products in a J.C.Whitney catalog.
