I am thinking of finally drilling a hole and mounting a permanent low wind load antenna. I have been running a Wilson 5000 magnet mount.......will I gain anything by going with the 5000 through the roof mount? Enough to make the trouble worth it? I don't care about the truck, it's an 89 f550 supercab that has seen better days.

Yeah, you would have a better ground and lower swr's.

I have the mag mount version also, I have a new Sterling dump truck. I'd like to run the roof mount cause of hitting trees and moving my mag mount around on my cab. I have posted where I am having swr problems with a new mag mount. Where would be the best place to mount the roof mount? I'd hate to drill a hole and find out I had it in the wrong place
