what is the REAL output of this amp on ssb?? I hooked up my Syncon 1kw RMS power meter and it says it is doing about 250-270watts max??. I drive it with a Icom IC 728 driving around 20watts PEP into it. So is this the proper output? I believed it was supposed to be around 600 watts max on SSB? Mind you, the power meter on the KL550 indicates says it is peaking over the 600 watt mark! So, what gives, anyone got a clue? Cheers Andrew 739 |

Your Synchron meter reads avg power output, not peak. Your amp is doing what it is supposed to. |

Oh okay, thanks for that. Just curious though, how do you know what the PEP/peak output is on SSB? Is there a way to figure out SSB peak by knowing the avg output? I appreciate your help and knowledge in this area. Cheers Andrew (an aussie in USA) 739 |

Typically the SSB out of those is about 450. My guess is you see around 275 on the Synchron. |
