I recently got a hold of a Tristar 120. I want to run it with a Siver Eagle 200. My problem is this: I can't get the dead key below 4 1/2 watts. I've tried adjusting L10,11,12,13 but the dead key will only go up to 5 and not down at all. Any suggestion ? Thanks. Also there's a small switch on the side of the radio. What's that for ? |

The switch is for PA. Those are really tough to lower the power on. 4.5 watts will most likely be ok. I would try it. 307 |

i've had to lower the carrier on these with a resistor to the collector of the diver(like the cobra mods). don't have one here, and i haven't wrote down part #'s. just do it as i look at it. i installed a switch in a few of these on the opposite side of the radio from the switch that you asked about. this switch brought the resistor in and out of line. you have to make a 'Z' pattern between the switch legs for it to work correctly with a small spst switch(i can explain better if interested, and you feel you can handle it). btw, does anyone know if a schematic is availabe on this radio? i haven't seen a lot of these radios, but have seen enough that a schem would be a time saver in the future. |
