I just purchased a LIKE NEW RCI 2980 from Copper. I guess UPS did another number, the radio was on 24mhz and not keying up. I took the bottom off to look at the solder side of the board, and there was a MASSIVE 2 inch crack on the board. I've bridged ALL of the broken paths I could see. Everything is fine now, almost. Only band D CB band is having problems. Key up is ok, but channel 18 shows up as 27.105, when I press on the board it changes to 27.175 like it should. I don't see anymore cracks, I temporarily used a lump of tape to keep pressure on the board so I use the radio. Is there anywhere specific I should be looking for a crack or broken solder joint? I don't want to send the radio back, I've been wanting one too bad. Is there any fixes? Or just keep the lump of tape in there and hope it keeps working? |
