I've got a Uniden Washington base with a 5 pin stock microphone. I want to use my D104 with a TUG8 base but it has a 4 wire cord. Can I use the 4 wire or not? If I can, would someone please list the correct wiring sequence?

It should be 1 audio 2 shield 3 transmit 4 no connection 5 receive. That's 1-2-3-5, white, shield, red, black.

I wired the mic as you stated and when I plugged it into the radio, it caused the radio to key up. Pressing the bar microphone transmit bar causes it to unkey.

What did dumb me do, wire something backwards?

Quackdaddy,

My Book for the Astatic 575 & D-104M with the TUG8 Stand shows;

PIN ~ #1 ~ Shield
PIN ~ #2 ~ White
PIN ~ #3 ~ Red
PIN ~ #4 ~ Black

Try this and let me know if it works for you.

Hope this helps!

Lon - Tech808,

Are you saying that I need to leave pin 5 open?

Quackdaddy,

According to the book you leave Pin #5 Open.

Standard wiring for Washington(858) is:
Pin #1 ~ Shield
Pin #2 ~ Audio
Pin #3 ~ Transmit
Pin #4 ~ Receive

TUG-8 COLOR CODE IS:

WHITE - AUDIO
SHIELD - GROUND
RED - TRANSMIT
BLACK RECEIVE

Both are Electronic Switching

If this does not work let me know and I will pull a D-104 with TUG-8 Stand out and check it to make sure as I have over 70 in boxes with the radios I had them hooked up to marked on them.

I have a small collection. LOL

I hope this helps!!!!!
