It really sounds like a jumper. Can you borrow another amp to sub in and check? |

ok, found the problem...the stainless steel shelf i had made for it was the culprate......removed the amp from the shelf and set on the desk, now it works fine.....why did the shelf cause the amp not to work? |

Ummm, do you hear the relay inside the amp go "CLICK" when you key the radio? Does Copper still have to ship these with the "conversion" not done? Seems to me you have to move a plastic jumper onto two small pins on the circuit board inside to make this one key. They used to import the things from Italy with this pin jumper set to keep it from keying, until the end-user received it. Made it technically "legal" to sell that way. 73 |

Im guessing it took your incoming signal from the radio and just absorbed it. |

you probably had an rf grn loop between the amp and the radio via the steel shelf. by moving the amp off the steel shelf, you broke up the gnd loop. adding a line isolator to the coax or even changing coax lengths most likely would have stopped this also. |

TRY A DIFFERENT JUMPER,the act of moving the amp changed the relationship of the conductors in the connectors,e.g.cold solder joint, flux in joint,no solder at all, moisture,if you have a cat check for teeth marks,I had that problem keep cats out of radio room now and had to change all my jumpers. |

When I repair all KLV amps , I test them for a minimum of 2 hours. When they leave the shop for Copper , they all work with my mark on them. I have only had a few that were beyond repair because of an operator melt-down. SS8541 hit the nail , I believe it is some sort of ground loop and/or ground problem. To test this theory , put it back on the shelf with a thick book under it and let us know if it still works. If it does , you found it... 307 |

With some experimenting I aslo found a bad jumper. I found this out by process of elimination. Everything works fine now. Wooohooo! |
