Could any of you very wise folks out there describe to me how I need to go about turning my carrier down on my Midland 79-290 to 2 watts so I can use my amp on am not just ssb. Is there variable resistors I have to turn, or is it more complicated. If possible I would appreciate a picture. Thanx

Triplecguy,

The only thing I could find on the Midland 79-200 series was for the 79-265.

Open your radio and see if you can find RV7
this is the one you will need to turn down the power for AM.

You should also see RV8 this one is for SSB.

If you see RV7 and RV8 then this will be correct.

Hope this can offer you some help.
