I have a question for you antenna gooroos....I was told this by someone and I had to ask the pro's on the forum.... I was told that if you take a Antron 99 or a Imax 2000 and replace the top piece with a 102" fiberglass whip and do the same on the Skip kit it would give you close to a 1" wave....To me that sounds like a crock, but I had to find out the truth with the forum members out here..To me 5 102" whips would cost more than the antenna..LOL. If you did something like this could you still adjust SWR's on the base????? |

Replacing the A99 top section with a 102 inch whip would make the antenna tune in the 22 MHz. band and it will no longer work on 27 MHz. Replacing the top section of the Imax 2000 will do nothing since the top section is already a 102 inch fiberglass whip. Replacing the 6 foot elements on the GPK with 102 inch elements will likely gain nothing. Either way, changing the top element will not affect the tuning rings function at all. |

SH, your own description of what it sounds like is pretty close to accurate. Marconi |

Hello, I run the Shakespear 2 piece Big Stick base antenna, and I have a Francis Amazer antenna from the 70's and I replaced the top portion of my Big Stick with it, I have good SWR and it has always got out there, |
