Ok guys, the package from Copper just came in with the KL-40 I got from the auction. I have a few questions. 1) With any amp that I have used before, when it was hooked up and I keyed up, I heard a click from the relay in the amp. This one doesn't make any noise at all. I have no watt meter so I have no way to test - shouldn't a click come from a relay in this thing? 2) For those of you who have purchased the KL-40 , is it standard for the box to be labeled WORKING IN 10 METERS ONLY ? I am curious if I got some defective one that someone returned. 3) Don't these normally come with some kind of fuse in line on the power cable? Mine didn't - another thing that makes me think someone returned this one. I guess I really need to see if I can find someone with a meter I can borrow. I figured it was just be easier to ask first...I know I am not pumping too much power into it, my radio does 3/4 watt dead key.. I do see a minor change in SWR when the amp is turned on, which is a minor indication to me that SOMETHING is working.. Thanks 747, Cocoa Beach FL |

747, Please read tech "181" Steve's review on this amp, It will help answer most of your questions. As for the label on the box "WORKING IN 10 METERS ONLY" all of the KL amps I have purchased have this label. There is NO FUSE in the power connector line. It does have a replaceable internal fuse F5A250V As for Click when keyed you will not hear one. This is a GREAT little AMP! Hope this helps. tech808 / Lon |
