Can I get some opinions on diff ground methods used by some of the techs on this forum I would like to ground my equipment for the best performance on trans and receive. I am currently running a Browning MarkIII and a Maco V58 the radios is grounded to a ground rod right on the other side of the wall about 6 ft away the v58 is also grounded to a seperate ground rod. Thanks |

Slicker, In the past I have had lighting strike my tower and blow one leg completely out along with wipping out my antennas. I now I have all three legs grounded separately to their own copper ground rod 1/2" x 10' and then I have all three legs tied together with 1/4" copper solid grounding wire. It is a small pain to unhook & reconnect the Antennas coax but cheaper than buying new equipment. I use Small glass candle jars from my wife and when ever we will be gone or when lighting is anywhere near I unhook all coax and place the ends in the glass jars. I feel you can never have to many grounds. 1 Radio + 1 Antenna + 1 Meter = from 150.00 to $1000.00 (Most operators have far more equipment.) Grounding rods, connectors and wire maybe $40.00 You do the math. I have learned "ALWAYS" Expect the Unexpected. Just my thoughts! tech808 / Lon |
