I have an Astatic 600 meter and it works fine when the adapter that powers the lights isn't connected. When I connect the adapter and I key my radio the needle on my modulation meter moves up before I even talk into the mic. It even happens when I turn the mic gain all the way down and I'm only using a stock mic. I also noticed it's a little harder to calibrate the swr meter. As soon as I remove the adapter, everything works fine. I like the feature of having lights on the meter because it makes it easier to see and it looks nice so I really don't want to use the meter without it. Why is this happening? |

Maybe the meter is picking up some noise on your AC service...maybe a bad or missing ground? You could try grounding the meter, or maybe get an AC line noise filter? |

I think it might be the ground because as soon as I put my hand on the meter everything is fine even with the adapter connected. |

I plugged in the adapter on a different AC line where nothing else is connected to it and everything works fine know. Maybe it was AC line noise but I'm still going to ground it anyway. Thanks Highlander & Taz This forum is great! |
