I'd like to hide my base antenna in the back of my yard between the trees and was wondering how long can the coax be before power and effectiveness drops off? The total coax from antenna to base station will be over 100ft.(aprox. ) What other problems could I encounter. Thanks for your time! Ed |

If you use a high grade coax such as Times LMR400 it will be fine. The Times cost only a few cents more than standard RG8 or 213. |

Thanks Tech671 for the coax recommendation! One other question. I will probably need about 180 ft. of coax from antenna to base station. Will this be too much coax for a stock radio to put out. I have an unmodified 142GTL. I'm trying to avoid TVI for the sake of my neighbors. The antenna will be in the back of my property between some trees on a 36ft. mast about 120 feet from my house. I just don't want to waste the money if the radio won't be able to put out. Thanks again for your time! Ed |

It may not be exactly the same as if it were 100', but there's not a significant drop in that coax to 200'. |
