basically want the rated output or actual average output for the mrf 422. looking at the klv model being solid state with 2 mrf 422 transistors in it and was curious what this box really does on average. so any help appreciated. |

I got a KLV550 and its got 2-sd1407 pills they're rated at 100 watts with 2.5 watts drive, typically only 80% of output. They easily put out 300 watts with 5 watts deadkey in so watch that swing, and in excess of 400 with 15 watts SSB on position 6.Those mrf422s are 150 watts with 15 watts in,much much more rugged. |

motorola is getting out of the hf RFtransistor business, they're more into uhf and microwave.RFPARTS hassome but they are EXpensive, the 1407s are over 50bucks a piece, they test their transistors at 80% usually, so 100 is 80%,125 is 100%. |
