Perphaps one of the techs, or anyone, can give me some suggestions on where to start troubleshooting this problem I have. I have an old style 2950, the one that uses the battery for the memory, and recently when I key the mic, the radio will mute the receive, but will not always engage the transmit. This is intermittent. Sometimes, It will engage after a second or two, other times I need to key the mic 2 or 3 times to get it to work. When this occurs, I get no modulation, or dead carrier at all. Someone suggested that the CPU might be bad, but my experience with CPUs is that they either work or don't work. Though, I may be wrong. I've checked the mic connectors, cable and switches and all appear good. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. |

Alrighty. After about a month, I finally had some time to put the 2950 on the dummy load and take some readings with the meter. The radio does not completely fail to transmit, but rather the power drops donw to 100-200mW, adjustable by turning the front panel variable power. I'll bet this question's been answered exactly in another thread, but any suggestions on where to start looking are appreciated. Thanks |

at the back of the radio is a circuit board about one inch wide and about 1&1/2 inch tall .I had one you could move it around and it would cut the tx and rx in and out.pull the bottom cover and move it around and see if that is it.mine had a broken trace where it soldered to the main board.never had any other problems with it until I traded it off.Sonoma |

you can replace the round battery with 2 AA batterys.and you can get all the stuff from radio shak to do it with. |
