Hey guys,
Have a question. I just bought a HR2510. Everythings as far as power mods is stock. I also bought a brand new DX400hdv from copper. What does this amp like as far as driving it with my 2510. Any tips from you guys would be appreciated....Thanks........ |

i hate to say this, but.... if you want good swing from a low carrier, remove c48 near the alc and am power pots. the waveform looks like ••••, but you'll have the swing you may want from a low carrier.
c48 is part of the cw feedback loop for cw power. but it is also active on am, so removing this cap effects the 'swing' on am.
i think this also answers another posts about a swing mod for the 2600/2510/lincoln that i said i would give a mod to and then forgot. well here it is now. better late than never(i hope). |

Is there a variable AM power variable on 2510 to set at 2.5w? Or am I going to have to set it with VR pod on board. If so, what is VR no. on PCB. Also Ss8541, If I were to remove c48, do I have to bridge holes where Capaciter was or just remove it. Thanks again fella's.........73's |

Snapperhead, the pod is VR104.....back left hand corner of the radio.It's marked on the board.There is a varible mod for that radio:

I JUST GOT A TEXAS STAR DX 400 HDV FOR MY TRUCK. THE TRUCK STOP CB SHOP TELL ME I NEED TO MATCH IT AND THE RCI 2950 BEFOR I USE IT. HE WAS NOT TALKING OF THE SWR FOR THE ANT. I AM LOST. IT THE FIRST AMPLIFIER THAT I HAVE EVERY USE. WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT |

What he meant was that your radio's AM carrier should be set so that the amp is not under or overdriven. Your 2950 has a variable power control. When you turn this control fully counter-clockwise, it should be fine with your amp. Do not adjust your variable power of the radio any higher without a power meter. The 400 on high power should not exceed a 125w AM carrier. |

Hey goldenknight,
I also run a RCI-2950 with a DX400hdv. When I was overdriving amp it was squeling like a big dog on the SSB TX side. What I did is set my RF power knob on face of radio to max. Then with watt meter inline I adjusted VR16(AM low power) not to exceed 100w deadkey with kicker on. At peak modulation on side band my meters showed about 22w. wich my Texas Star kicker seemed to like. Gettin about 420w on SSB. I have a brand new DX400hdv coming from copper any day now, wich I'm going ot run my Uniden 2510 with.............Hey, I think I hear the UPS truck outside...Gota go............... |
