I have owned three of these over the years and all were off freq. when in center slot(detent)on the clarifier. Also each was out a little different than the others. All were close enough to center slot, that they kept wanting to fall back into center slot. Question is if I ordered 4 units could they all be tuned so that they were all on freg. when in center slot. |

The center slot detent is a real sore spot for avid SSB'ers. This can be remedied by removing the clarifier and defeating the detent. VOILA! No more off freq detent problem on the coarse clarifier. If you'd like this done to your 3900 drop me an email. |

Jburner, That's a common problem. When the knob is "in the detent" you expect it to be on freq, but it's not. I find that "on" is a little to the left around 11 o'clock. Like 671 said, you can remove that detent so the knob doesn't want to slip back in, or you can set the knob to the detent and align the radio so it's right on, right there.
