Hello. Whats the main diff between the TRC 450 and the 451? I heard that one of the radios actually has a small built in speech processor of sorts. I also heard the radios diff is one uses a washington board and the other a cobra 146 GTL board. |

RCI2990, We aim to please here so.... The TRC450 uses either the MB8719 PLL which is easily modifiable as you know and uses the same single conversion board design as the Cobra 146, Tram D80, Midland 79-900, etc. Some of the later models use the MB8734 PLL, which by itself, I think requires an expo kit, or you can drop an 8719 PLL in its place. The TRC451 uses the uPD2824 PLL which can also be modded, but needs an expo kit. The Cobra 146, as well as the TRC465, and President P300 use this chip also. I have also heard the the uPD2816 is interchangeable with the 2824. I hope this helps... Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |
