I have a

A rd104e power mic

a galaxy 250hd amp
The amp is grouded to a seat bolt
A 4' k40 on the bedrail a 1 1/2 behind the cab

Not a Problem with amp off swr =
1.1 on channel 1
and 1.5 on cahnnel 40

With amp ON:(channel 20)
1.5 on low
2.5 on med
over 3 on high

My antenna also gets extremely hot with amp on.
Its a 4' flex fibglas k40.
The antenna doenst get hot until I start using the amp.Could my antenna be causing the problem.
Ive tried all sorts of gounds and am thinking the antenaa is the problem so I am thinking of getting a firestick II fs (4')

Any suggestions or help is GREATLY APPRECIATED

I once had a similar problem and it turned out the antenna was not taking the rated power. I would make sure it is grounded well , if so replace it. Also it could be the decoupling capacitor is shorted in the amp. Use a meter and check both connectors on the amp to ground , you should see open connections.

The small diameter wire used to wind the K40 simply can't handle the RF ampres created at higher power. The resistance goes up, and that means your SWR does too. Get an antenna that will handle the power. I suggest you stay away from wound seal-a-meal antennas and get a metal one.
