Hey 307, I was wondering what you thought about the I-Max 2000. I just bought a ton of stuff from copper to get my base station going. Years back I ran a Antron 99 with skip kit and had good results. I been hearing all this hype about the I-max 2000, so I decided to give it a try. I also got skip kit for the I-max 2000. Wich one do you think is the all around antenna from the two. Also I get high winds here in the winter. Which one's alittle more durable.......Thanks |

The imax-2000 is better than the antron and would beat it any day. What do you mean by skip kit? they both handle 100mph winds. Mine did. |

Thanks Taz, I almost got the ABS 1600 instead of 2000. But I'll think I'll be happy with the I-MAX 2000.........73's |

Look at the reviews under the subscriber preview section. It says it all. Antron 99 = 1/2 wave. IMAX 2000 = 5/8 wave, even better. |

Hey Taz, About Skip kit for I-MAX 2000. I meant Solarcon I-Max GPK kit code A65-00005. It looks kinda like the Antron99 GPK. I don't know if it helps, but what the hell, I'll give it a shot. Any I-Max 2000 owners have this kit? And if so, did you notice any difference? |

I have the I-Max 2000 with no GPK on a 10 foot pole leaning against the house and have talked all over the world on it this way. Durable? Well even though it dosen't have far to fall, mine has blown over 4 times now and no problems. It also works well for recieve on all HF freq.s |

Hey Hook948, thanks for reply. I just bought a 36' pushup mast from Retard Shack. I'm still waiting for order to come in from Copper on the antenna. I have a question on grounding. I also bought a 4' copper grounding rod from Retard Shack. What kind of wire do ya use for that procedure. Any tips for grounding would be appreciated..........Thanks |

Snapperhead, I don't have the GPK for mine and it gets out! If I had mine rigged in a different way where I had the room, I'd try one too. I'm sure it doesn't hurt anything. One of the techs was going to test the IMAX 2000 with the GPK and post the differences in the subscriber preview section but I guess it hasn't happened yet. Talked a couple of thousand miles on this antenna BAREFOOT! Not bad for a fiberglass cheap priced omni antenna. Enjoy. |

Hi, Well at home I have a ground rod next to the pole with a 3ft 4ga wire running from pole to ground rod. I have another I-Max 2000 I use on my Ford Ranger pick up for when it's sitting still at work 5 days a week/24hrs a day. I have a 7ft pole I stick in the rear hole in the side of the bed with the I-Max on it and NO ground connected to it. SWR's are 1.2 on both the base and the mobileI dont think you need to run a ground to it except-maybe-for lightning protection, but then again I feel if it gets hit by lightning it will probably travel through the coax anyway. |

Thanks Hook948, I'll ground it similiar to yours. And yes, in the summer we have some pretty severe thunderstorms here. Also is grounding radio important. My main concern to0, is TVI. I'm not going to run amp or anything. Just what my Galaxy Saturn will do. My biggest fear is the neighbors off. Don't want to do that.....Thanks again........... |
