I have a Palomar 225 that has an automatic SSB relay built in. I dont use SSB and as you can guess, the delay gets on my nerves. Does anyone know how to remove the delay? Thanks in advance...Eddie

Inside is a 33uf cap that controls the length of the delay. I've found that a 10uf retains the delay for ssb and is not nearly as detrimental to the AM conversation.
If you're not very secure with your soldering skills, do not attemt the change. A booboo will create nearly complete disassembly of the amp to correct.

Is it doing it, while you are in am mode? The amps delay works with ssb cause there is no carrier, when you talk or modulate, then the amp kicks in, this is just a way that the amp can last longer as excessive high wattage key ups, ssb 12watts pep or higher. if your amp is doing this in am mode then I suggest that either your cb only puts out enough power for the amp to detect when you talk, or the relay in the amp is bad,,, good luck

Ill try to explain what is happening. In AM mode, I key the mic, unkey the mic, the s-meter drops to nothing as well as the volume of noise for about a half of a second then come back to normal.Only during the unkeying operation. Seems to me that the relay is working slow. I have had these amps before and this is the first one to act in this manner. When all else fails, I will try the cap swap. Thanks barracuda and warlock...Eddie
