Yes, I have had a lot going on this week , ANYWAYS...On the Sidewinder , Looking down into the radio , there is a small circuit board on the right side faceing you. Towards the REAR RIGHT SIDE of the small board are three holes that once had a small connector header. I believe you short the two pins closest to the rear of the small board. This should do it. I pulled one out and thats how it worked. |

Been looling at that sidewinder. If you dont mind, what is the best way to modify this board. Could you use a paper clip to bridge that gap, or is that an impedence problem. Would it be better to solder from the top of the board looking down at it???? I looked for some pins at work today and I didnt find anything that looked like it belonged in those pin holes. Someone thought a diode might work, that was beyond me. We have lots of diodes, hundreds of them......which one....not for me. Will try to modify this radio sun or mon. Just curious as to the best way ( or two ) for a beginner to get the job done. There seems to be a large piece of solder setting between the two pin holes. Thinking out loud Oliver |

307 Please bear with me. There is a piece of solder that runs across both the last two pin holes I need to short out. THIS SOLDER COMPLETELY SURROUNDS BOTH PIN HOLES. This totally confuses me.......if the solder is aleady there.........??????? There are holes in the solder for the pins. Can I use a paperclip.... impedence problem ? QUESTION: Since the solder is already in place I don't understand how filling in those two little holes will short it out. What in the world will it do that isn't done now. There doesn't appear (i could be wrong) that there is anything on the botton side of that board that would be making contact patience is a virtue. Hope to get this done on Sunday. I know you took one off the shelf to help me.....and you shorted it out and it worked.......just trying to understand this....... solder goes from pin 1 and 2......has hole for pin.....completely surrounds pin holes....... |

Ok , you may have revision "C". Remove the small board and see if there is a jumper down around those holes , If so remove it. Let me know , there is a revision "D" , "E" and "F" as well... |

first thing i did was to get that board off and take a look at it......like in my specific message post for you that I made, I have absolutely no pins or jumpers on that underside of the board. there is absolutely nothing but pin holes you can see all the way through the board.......these pin holes are labled 3,2,1 from the front of the radio to the back......... I took the board off again trying to find a revision number, didn't really expect to find one. Don't want to short something out that I shouldn't so I am waiting. Getting a little discouraged though........hmnnnn is there a return policy on auction products ???? |

So what was the procedure that solved the preceding discussion on the Eagle Sidewinder 400? I may have missed it on a different discussion, it would be nice to see it attached to this discussion. Many thanks.. |

Dear Tech Heads, I have A General - "Longsteet" AM/FM/SSB . I have all the books Copper has out now , & I can't find any info on the radio ! I've ran out of places to look; can you recomend a site to me with the info I need ? Or can you tell me how to detune the radio for a low drive box ,3 to 4 WATTS AM & 10-12 SSB MAX ! Mod. is fine "needs no adjustments" ! Just the Am carrier & SSB output ? I'd rather not take the word from someone that "thinks" he has some kind of clone of it ; I need to be sure I'm getting the right info before I move a thing : If you know what I'm getting at ? Thank you, Grey Hound |
