i have a cobra 2000 that receives fine on local stations (up to 15 miles maybe) then when you receive stations say 25 or 30 miles away, there is good receive on their modulation but not on the s- meter it hardly comes off of zero and I can swap to another base radio via switch box and the same distant station reads at least 2 to 3 on the meter. VR-1 can be adjusted but that just brings the local stations to read a plus 20 or 30 way over in the strawberry patch. It seems as if a component has went bad. This radio has just started it a while back. I know there is a cap near the audio chip that sometimes goes out on the 2000's but when it does, you lose all the receive. Could the audio chip be going bad and starting to lose the receive? |

The Audio IC has nothing to do with RX. Most likely one of the mixers dropped down 10 dB or so. This was common on the 2000. It will come back with a full alignment. 307 |
