Did you cut the limiter in the melaka? If you did then put it back. The mic may be over driving the melaka. try a turner mic or the sadelta echo master. turner and sadelta sound best with it. |

is it cliped? if so put it back and see what happens, how is your swr? is battery reading at least 8volts,could be a bad element in the head of the mic,is it over tuned? lots of posibilitys |

Find the mike wire on switch and experiment with different value non polarised eletrolytic capacitors in series, you should be able to aquire these at radio shack. |

He cut the limiter, or the mic is putting more than the radio can handle. like over 100%. The d104's are known world wide for spurios emissions. |

D1o4s with spurious emissions? No wway!!(lol) Not the mics fault. Turn the mic way down and open the mic gain slowly on the radio till you get it sounding good |

If you have a bassy voice to start with, a Turner or Sadelta is NOT the way to go. The Astatic 575 or Astatic Echomax mikes would have the most treble available. As said before, weak battery and/or high swr will also cause this, as well as if your radio's carrier is too high. |

Warlock, I run a turner super sidekick and it sounds clear and can even use more bass. The mic is simply putting too much audio out. more than 100% Yes radiodude. the d104 are so loud they often put out over 100% mod and over 100% mod is distortion and that means spurious emissions. Try putting it on a scope. |

Damaged element in the microphone would be my first guess. D104s are NOT known for their bass response. Quite the opposite, actually. They are tinny and brassy sounding. If you have one that is sounding muddy, then settings aren't your problem. |

Which kind of mic element is your D104 using ?? There are 2 types ---- crystal and ceramic. The ceramic tend to be more basey. If it is, change to the crystal type. |
