ok 307 got one for ya, I have been out of radio 7 years and am getting back in. What is the best WIDE BAND antenna out right now...I hear great stuff about the wilson 5000. I will be running a 2950dx that is converted 21-29.6 mhz so want somthing that will cover the widest range of freq in and around the CB band. Used to run the old super pen. ant that did well but wanted to see if anything else is out now. Thanks RC |

Just my two cents here, the wilson 5000 is a great choice, especially if you plan to run a little "help" with it, but if not a wilson 1000 is just as broad banded for a little less cash. The K-40 is also a good choice as long as you stick to the freeband channels and don't wander too high up in frequency. I've had good results out of all of the above, it just depends on how much you want to spend. |

well if i can add my two cents nothing can cover that whole spectrum without retuning or a tuner. i like my stargun 9-1 antenna. works well. i also had bought a solorcon 20k antenna from copper that worked extremely well too. wilson is great i also have the 1000/ 5000/ and 2000. all work good but not as widebanded as a open coil antenna. hey good luck. |

The one that worked best for me was the President PA. would tune the bottom part of 10 meterrs through 12 meters 2 to1 and sounds great on receive a real low noise antenna. |

i agree with honky tonk man,you wont get one antenna that will cover this whole range of freq's with out a antenna tuner, none. but the wilson 5000 is a very nice antenna ive run one on my truck for years, before going with a flatline dual coil job from storm's. the range on the 5000 gave me 26.8350-28.5050 with 1.13:1-1.7:1 swr across this range of freq's the flatline antenna is a bit more bradbanded because it made from alot wider radiator half inch copper water pipe. |
