In a KLV 350, what exactly is the little circuit board containing IC 12C508A ? Is the circuit integral and necessary for operation of the amp? Can the circuit board be removed and bypassed?? I bought the amp to use on 10m, and was told by the distributor to remove the IC for operation on 11m. I explained that I would NOT be using it on 11m, but ws trying to use it on 10m, and it didn't seem to work. The clerk insisted the IC be removed. I removed the IC and of course, it works now, but there seems to be some stray RF getting back into the keying circuit, because, after letting up on the PTT, the amp "chatters" and fails to release the transmit.=, unless I flip it to standby. I'm wondering if the now disabled circuit board is causing this. |

I had an old tuber that had relay contacts that were dirty--symptoms were very similar to what you seem to be describing. A friend cleaned them by pulling a little piece of paper he had sprayed with tuner cleaner through the contacts. Also, maybe shock from ground shipping might have bent the contacts so they cant make good contact. 73 |
