i bought the radio from a guy who told me that the radio only puts out a few watts, even on sideband. so he claims the final and driver both are ok. just that the radio puts out low power. was this radio a piece of junk in this respect, or is there something like a blown resistor, transistor or something else i should check out? any help would be appreciated. also anyone got or had a 132xlr with the same problem and had it fixed? thanks...

sitm, These two radios are altogether different, you have to take into mind what condition the transmitting circuit is in, no 2 radios will tune out the same. if running an amp. keep the AM to about 3 watts, with a little luck sideband should max between 18-25 watts running stock transistors,if no other mods have been done to the final transmitting circuit. I have A TRC-449 in the car which is one in the same radio as the 138XLR that tuned to 22 watts on my PDC-700 meter on sideband. Yankee
