I bought a Galaxy Melaka for $199 a month or so ago, did the 11 meter conversion, tuned it up, added a workman 5 tone Roger Beep and a Galaxy echo robot board. I also added talkback by cutting one side of D80 and putting a switch in between the cut, I actually got that mod from Galaxy. Anyhow everything works perfectly when I use stock mikes, but when I use power mikes they ALL sound very tenny and low, especially when I use a D104 handheld or desk mike. They sound low and more pityful than my stock mikes...and if I turn them up to be louder the radio won't stayed keyed, as soon as I talk it unkeys. Also microphones with roger beeps or any after key ETS don't keep the radio keyed after releasing the PTT, so you don't hear the beeps, it happens with all ETS tone mikes like my echo max 2000 and my solorcon!!! Before I added the echo and roger beep internally, power mikes still sounded bad, but never unkeyed, and the roger beep mikes worked. I see behind the mike socket there are three capacitors connecting all the pins together then to the chasses ground and no wire on the reciece pin, does anyone know what would happen if I removed the caps or is there something I'm missing??? Everything works fine with any stock mike though, all internal mods are correctly done and checked over and over, I get 90-95% Modulation and the internal echo and roger beep work fine!!! But I don't care for stock mikes, HELP PLEASE!!!!! |

Hmm....You need to go into the Subscribe area and look at Power Supply Voltage and see if it is set to 13.8 volts..Let me know when you complete this step.. 307 |

the power supply is set perfectly to 13.8 volts, and the entire board has been aligned with a scope and RF genarator,10 digit frequency counter, the whole 9 yards, it only unkeys with Astatic brand mikes, I don't know if the capacitors on the mike plug make a difference or what??? I got the alignment procedure before you posted it from the internet since the 33 is vitually the same, but it is in perfect alignment, I went over the whole board 3 or more times myself then had my uncle check it out, he's a tech for GE and he checked my alignment, nothing was off and everything works fine except power mikes mainly Astatic! Help!!!! |

307 and Sintronic Cpu, I installed two five tone RB boards in my Galaxy 55 (one to sound when I key and one when I un-key) which both work fine with a stock mic or a Cobra power mic. When I use my D-104 desk mic, I don't get the tones when I key or un-key. The built in RB (single tone inside the 55) still works. I have never had the un-keying problem but sometimes I don't get any modulation when using the D-104. Maybe Astatic doesn't like BEEPS! |

I am going to take two guess's here and I want to know if either one fixes it... 1) Pull the +8 volt supply for the Echo Board DIRECT from the 8 volt regulator in the Melaka. Add a 100uF Electrolytic Cap from the 8 volt lead to board ground as close to the Echo Board as possible. Make SURE the return to the Echo Board is to BOARD GROUND and NOT CHASSIS GROUND.. 2) Add a .01 uF capacitor in SERIES with the INPUT and / or OUTPUT AUDIO from the Echo Board. One of these will fix it...Let me know.. |

I'll try that right away, but I found a D-104 K Eagle that doesn't do that, it's the only one so far though:P |
