I'm been playing around with my 2950 trying to get more swing. I turned up the VR14-AMC and was playing around with VR13-AM High power and VR15-AM low power.Right now with my on face variable at 12clock I'm dead keyin and about 4 watts and swingin only to about 10 to 11. I know it should be a little more. If the finalls were weak would this effect it. Any advice would be great....... |

The finals are not weak and don't go weak either. That is a bogus story that CB shops say to get you to spend more money. It sounds like you need to focus more on the coils it the TX chain to get more swing. 307 |

So finals are either no good or good, there's no in between? Ok, I found some info on 2950's in some CB tricks website. It said L34 L13 L14 L16-AM power. what procedure do I do to tweak these slugs. Bare with me. I not a tech or anything. Just a bootleg CBer wantin' to get a little more swing. thanks Phil(snapperhead) |

you didn't really say if the radio came this way, or if you have had it a while and it just started. i'm not trying to be smart, but info like that is helpful in determining if the problem is an alignment issue or a failure issue. radios just don't jump out of alignment unless they have been screwed with or unless something has went bad. final/s can become leaky as with any trans. if this happens power will be reduced. final/s along with the am vr(voltage reg) will also be warmer than normal if this is the case. or, the base-emitter junction may be damaged resulting in less current flow. even if the coils are adjusted wrong, if the amc is wideopen you should have more than 11w of swing from a 4w carrier. i'd suspect a weak, 2sa473(q53) or 2sb754(q51) mod amp/voltage reg b4 i would suspect the finals being bad. you could also have just one bad final. i have seen this b4. the max high power carrier will not be as high as usual, and swing will be choked also. it is best to replace with a matched set if this is the case. |

Thanks for tip, I went ahead and Replaced 2sa473 and 2sb754 and played with slugs alittle. Dead keying 3.5w and swinging to 24w on my meters. SSB is about 35PEP. Thanks again for advice. 73's (Snapperhead) Reno, NV. |
