Greetings everyone. Just got the 2 way radio bug again after a brief absence since 1995 and bought a few used radios (big mistake) My Ranger lit up but did nothing else. I opened it up and and found an 2 piece yellow wire that looked like it should've been connected to the watt meter. Soldered it back on and it came to life (static & voices) Trouble is that channels 33-40 read as they should on a separate freq counter but channels 1-32 are 27.6048 to 27.64.48. Channels 5-11 are duplicates of channels 33-40. Any ideas? Is this a ham radio? |

Could be the crystal or ic chip is bad or going bad. How is the transmit and the audio? Is it low or weak? I am wondering if it is getting enough dc power. Sometimes a power regulator can get weak or bad. It is just a guess but that is an old radio.. |

What do you mean by 2 piece yellow wire, was it like 2 yellow wires that go to 2 different points on the board? Can you post a picture of the wire location? Tech858/Jim MM0TXO Wavin' a hand from Scotland
