With no audio, how do you know the RX is working? The S-meter?

Does the PA work?

If not, the audio IC might be bad, but it could also be a bad capacitor. I am no expert, but if it were me and I had no real test equipment, I would first touch pin one of IC5 with a piece of wire to see if the noise my body is picking up makes it into the speaker. If it does, then the audio amp is working and the problem is before it. If that does nothing, I would still test to see if the audio is making it to the IC by connecting my computer's mic or line-in jack to IC5's input (pin 4 is ground and pin 1 is audio in) and let my PC sound card try to do the amplifying (be sure the sound card is passing that jack to the PC speakers first). That will tell you if audio is at least making it there.

I'll wait to hear back before making further guesses as that will narrow it down significantly.

First try another speaker to see if that is the problem. It might also be that the ext. speaker jack is not passing the audio to the speaker. There's a little spring contact that disconnects the internal speaker when a plug is inserted. Test it with an external speaker next. You said you don't have one, but if you can't at least fashion one, I would recommend you stop here and send it to a tech.
