i have an old rci 2950 and found out it will not TX or Rx on channels over 27.445. i have watts but nothing else. changed the battery and still nothing. works on the channels 26.965 though 27.445 all other channels are dead, but the display shows they are there.

i work like to add the it will transmit and receive, but the sound is all garbled on both.
i think it might be a cap going bad but don't know where to look. just down load a service Manuel,
so going to start to check the voltages and checking caps.

It might be that someone has programed the split feature in the radio menu .

i have found out that 26.965 though 27.405 the radio works fine. anything out of that range the radio is not on the freq showing on the display
and motorboats on the rec radio and the transmitting radio. i pulled the battery and pulled the power cord on the radio and left the power switch on for a week hoping the cpu would reset. did not help. i think my CPU is fried.

Sounds like the PLL is fried.

I had a ranger that was doing that years ago. I took it to the radio shop and the tech there said he had to realign all the frequencies. Worked great after that.
